The Faulkner County Leadership Institute is currently recruiting applicants for the incoming 2010 class.
"We are always looking for a diverse class ranging from non-profit workers all the way to corporate executives," said George Heintzen III, recruitment chair. "The classmates tend to learn from each other and form new friendships."
Members of the class will meet one day a month to cover a broad curriculum of civic and social issues in and around Faulkner County. Curriculum topics include state government, county government, agriculture, economic development, human services, health care and education.
"It gives you an opportunity to learn more about your city and become more aware of what your city is all about," Heintzen said.
Applications are available at the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce. There is a $25 application fee. Participation is open to people who live or work in Faulkner County and are at least 25 years of age. Tuition is $500 and may be paid by the applicant or by the applicant’s employer. A limited number of full or partial scholarships are available. In the past, many companies have been heavily involved in sponsoring their employees to go through the Institute. The deadline for the applications is Monday. Members will be chose in September and orientation will be in November. Classes will begin in January with the retreat.
