LITTLE ROCK (AP) — Lawyers for the state of Arkansas say a U.S. Department of Justice request for an injunction against the Conway Human Development Center would "sabotage" efforts to defend the center.

The state filed a motion late Tuesday in federal court saying the Justice Department is trying to circumvent the trial process.

The Justice Department on March 9 asked the court to stop admissions of children to the center in Conway. The department says there is an "imminent and serious threat of harm" to people living there.

Attorneys for Arkansas say the Justice Department "misrepresented" facts about the center.

The motions are part of a federal lawsuit filed in January 2009 alleging mistreatment of residents at the center.
