The Faulkner County Quorum Court will hear requests tonight from two of the three programs that lost funding due to citywide budget cuts.
The cuts were enacted when a miscalculation was observed in the city’s reserve fund earlier this year.
The Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County and the Faulkner County Council on Developmental Disabilities are both scheduled to request county funding.
At its June meeting, justices of the peace approved the allocation of $21,000 to fund the Faulkner County Council on Aging, one of the three programs cut, until Jan. 1, 2011.
"These two have now stepped forward to request funding. The court will look at those (tonight)," County Judge Preston Scroggin said.
On the extent of the county’s ability to fulfill funding requests, Scroggin said several court members have voiced concerns.
"They’ve raised the point of where the stopping point is on funding unfunded agencies. I expect some lively discussion," Scroggin said.
The Quorum Court will also approve or deny an action item set by JP Jimmy Bryant requesting that the court sequester $650,000 to a "rainy day fund."
