Area motorists will begin to notice significant changes in traffic beginning this morning on Harkrider Street between Fleming Street and Siebenmorgen Road, as the city’s roundabout project nears completion.
According to David Vondran, staff engineer for the Conway Street Department, contractors were scheduled to split traffic to open the north- and south-bound outer lane of the roundabout between 8 and 9 a.m.
Vondran said the interior lanes will be barreled off to allow work to safely continue in the median area.
After completion of the splitter islands and median work, a final surface layer of asphalt will be placed for the project.
City officials estimate that the project will be completed by Oct. 31, 2010.
