Officials of the American Legion auxiliary reported today a full-time librarian had been returned to duty at the Conway free library on the second floor of the courthouse. The salary is paid by the government. Mrs. Maude Scott has been given the appointment. Volunteer workers have been serving as librarian the past few weeks.

D.H. Sanders won 25 silver dollars given in a drawing of membership card stubs by the Faulkner County Farm Bureau.
V.O. McNabb won 10 silver dollars and V. C. Fenner five.
Charles Burnett, president of the Bureau, said that about 400 members have paid their membership dues. The Bureau has about 1,100 members. The drive is running ahead of last year, he added.

Jesse Sweere of Conway was one of 15 chemistry students recently receiving scholarships at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Sweere is a son of William and Verla Sweere of Conway.

University of Central Arkansas women’s basketball coach Ron Marvel’s quest for a new milestone went off without a hitch last night at the Farris Center as the Sugar Bears downed Mortheastern State University (Oklahoma) 60-53.
The win was No. 401 for Marvel, who was honored before the contest with a presentation and afterward with a reception, after picking up No. 400 last week against Lyon College.
