Renewal Ranch, a faith-based organization dedicated to "restoring broken lives through Christ," received a $20,000 Building Better Communities grant from The Home Depot Foundation.

Renewal Ranch aims to rehabilitate men with addiction issues through Biblical teachings and studies.

The organization is housed on 100 acres just outside of Conway. With the help of The Home Depot and local volunteers, Renewal Ranch will include a 3,200-square foot bunkhouse that will provide a residence, as well as a study area, for the men enrolled in the program.

Work began on the residence in the summer and is on schedule for completion in January.

As part of the grant, several Home Depot associates from across the state have helped build the frame and put down flooring in the first Renewal Ranch home.

"Team Depot allows associates to give back to their communities," said Kelly Ivey, Team Depot district captain and Cabot Home Depot manager.

Renewal Ranch director James Loy said the organization has received help from local businesses and community members, as well.

"We have been blessed with support from subcontractors and the community," Loy said.

Loy hopes more residences will be added at Renewal Ranch as the program grows.

The goal of Renewal Ranch is to rehabilitate men battling addictions using a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The program will also help participants become positive members of society through service projects. Housing and programs through Renewal Ranch are provided free of charge to the participants.

"The need is tremendous," Loy said. "We want men who want to change."

Loy said participants will be in the classroom Monday-Thursday and will participate in community service work, as well. Loy said several pastors from around central Arkansas will lead the classes and study sessions.

In addition to Biblical teachings, participants will also have personalized family counseling available at Renewal Ranch.

"We’re really excited about what the Lord is doing here at Renewal Ranch," Loy said.
