A Conway man is in custody after being apprehended by police Tuesday following alleged vehicle theft and an attempt to flee.
Timothy Fields, 25, of Conway was arrested Tuesday afternoon and later transported to Faulkner County Detention Center Unit 2.
Fields allegedly stole a Penske moving van in Little Rock earlier in the day and drove the van to Conway. Members of the Little Rock Police Department alerted Conway police that the van was stolen and had been located in Conway by its GPS.
Fields allegedly left the van and stole another truck in an attempt to escape. As he was being chased, Fields reportedly jumped out of the truck, which was still in drive, and began running. He was first seen by Det. Jason Cameron of the CPD around 3:30 p.m.
Somewhere along the way, Fields picked up an unidentified male, according to CPD public information officer LaTresha Woodruff, who claimed he did not know the van was stolen. Both males were apprehended and questioned.
No formal charges were filed as of presstime, as the case was still being investigated. See more details in Thursday’s edition of the Log Cabin Democrat.
