Hendrix College Dining Services received five awards in the 2011 National Association of College and University Food Services Loyal E. Horton Awards competition. The competition recognizes the best in college dining.
Hendrix College received a gold for catering and online menu; two silvers for residential dining concepts and special event; a silver for catering/special event; and a bronze for a single concept for retail sales.
Mike Flory of Conway is longtime director of Dining Services.
“We are very fortunate to have an amazing Dining Services team at Hendrix,” said Jim Wiltgen, Dean of Students.
“Not only does the Dining Services team make great food for Hendrix students, but they also make students feel at home,” Wiltgen said.
One example is how students receive a birthday cake and are serenaded by Dining Services employees in the cafeteria, a tradition of long standing.
“At the heart of it is how they reach out to our students,” he said. “As a residential college, this campus is our students’ home for four years, and our Dining Services team makes every student feel at home. They are amazing, and we’re so fortunate to have them.”
