The Lantern Theatre, the new theatre for Conway Community Arts Association (CCAA), will hold an Open House from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at the theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle in Conway.
The event is a chance for the public to visit the new space and learn about the upcoming productions at The Lantern Theatre. Refreshments will be served.
Conway Community Arts Association was formed in the early 1970s and has performed at various locations throughout Conway in those 35-plus years. The group has long sought a permanent place to call home, but the spaces which have become available in the past were not suitable for a variety of reasons, including square footage, price, or configuration.
However, the store front at 1021 Van Ronkle, which is owned by Carmen Thompson, is the perfect fit for a black box performance area.
The organization plans to audition for its upcoming production of "Same Time Next Year" on Monday and Tuesday, June 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. at the theatre and the play will be presented on July 29, 31, 31, August 4, 5, 6, and 7.
This will be the first time that CCAA has been able to audition, rehearse, and perform in the same location since its inception.
In addition, at least one more production will be added to this year’s season.
"Kitchen Witches," originally scheduled for production in late November will now be produced in early October and a musical, "Hot ‘n Cole," will be presented in early December.
The group is also looking at possibly adding one or two more small-cast performances this fall. Additional information can be obtained on the group’s web site at www.conwayarts.org.
