LITTLE ROCK (AP) — The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services says the deadline for residents who were affected by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding to apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance is rapidly approaching.Agency officials said Friday that claims must be filed by June 10 for individuals in Boone; Crittenden; Jefferson; Madison; Montgomery; Phillips; Washington and White counties.President Obama previously declared those counties as federal disaster areas that are authorized to receive the unemployment aid.The DUA program is for individuals who lost their jobs in these eight counties because of the disasters and don’t qualify for regular unemployment insurance benefits or Emergency Unemployment Compensation, which is for the self-employed.The storms began on April 23.
