LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas' unemployment climbed one-tenth of a percentage point in July to 8.2 percent, but state officials say the increase is seasonal and was anticipated.

The Department of Workforce Service said Friday that 1,400 Arkansans lost their jobs during July. A year ago, the state unemployment rate was 7.8 percent.

Seven major industry sectors recorded job losses in July in Arkansas.

The national unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point in July, falling to 9.1 percent.
