Conway insurance executive Steve Strange Sr. will be toasted and roasted in October.
The "Roast N’ Toast of Big Steve," a benefit for the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the banquet room of the Hendrix Education and Technology Center.
The roast continues a series of light-hearted salutes to various business and sports icons by the Hall of Fame in recent years. Jim Lindsey, a former Razorback receiver and real estate executive in northwest Arkansas, and Joe Kleine, a former Razorback and NBA star, Arkansas-Little Rock assistant basketball coach and Little Rock restaurant owner, have been honored during roasts and toasts the past two years.
"We were looking for some type of special event at the end of this year, and we wanted one outside Little Rock. Steve has been a longtime strong supporter of our organization and a participant in a lot of events, so we felt to honor him in Conway was perfect," said Ray Tucker, executive director of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.
Several sports and entertainment personalities are expected for the roast. Kleine has already agreed to be one of the roasters.
