The Phi Delta Chapter of Delta Beta Sigma High School Sorority recently returned from its 82nd annual convention held in Hot Springs. 

At the convention, members attended officer training workshops, general business meetings, as well as fundraising, charity and community service seminars. Phi Delta chapter received four convention awards for the 2010-2011 school year: The Charity Award, raising $8,000 to be granted to the Childhood Abuse Prevention Program; the Scholastic Award, honoring Lexis Atkinson; the Best Treasurer Award given to Maggie Mehl; and the Most Progressive Award.

Those attending this year’s convention were Mollie Mae Heneger, chapter president; Madison Dayer, vice president; Danielle Burnside, recording secretary; Leah Riner, corresponding secretary; Macy Stone, assistant treasurer; Bonnie Magee and Caitlyn Avant, convention chairs; Merideth King, custodian; Hannah Baker, pledge mistress; Julia Pettit, outstanding member; Maggie Wells, sweetheart sister; and Molly Shipp. The girls were chaperoned by chapter mothers Natalie Lea and Donna Magee.

Delta Beta Sigma members raise money for and/or work with area civic organizations and charities.
