Officials with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a man and cited him with two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault in the second degree of a 7-year-old child who is known to him.
Dr. Byron Kevin Beaver, 39, of Conway was arrested Friday night following an investigation that is based on allegations made by the mother of the victim. According to Capt. Matt Rice, the woman was made aware of the alleged incidents and contacted the authorities.
"When our investigators were made aware of the allegations made by the victim’s mother, it was apparent that this was a case that needed further attention," he said. "After speaking with the victim and discussing the case, a decision was made to seek a warrant for the arrest of the suspect."
According to officials of the St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock, Beaver has a wound care practice in Morrilton that is affiliated with that system.
Beaver turned himself in to investigators after being made aware of the allegations, Rice said.
Beaver is currently being held on a $500,000 bond at the Faulkner County Detention Center and will have his first appearance before a judge on Monday.
