The Faulkner County Leadership Institute is currently recruiting applicants for the incoming 2012 class.
"We are always looking for a diverse class ranging from non-profit workers all the way to corporate executives," said George Heintzen III, recruitment chair. "Classmates learn from each other and form new friendships. FCLI provides an opportunity to learn more about your city and become more aware of what your city is all about and to broaden your sphere of influence."
Members of the class will meet one day a month to cover a broad curriculum of civic and social issues in and around Faulkner County. Topics include state government, county government, agriculture, economic development, human services, health care and education.
Applications are available at the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce or they can be downloaded at www.fclionline.org.
There is a $25 application fee and is refundable if the applicant is not selected. The application fee goes towards the tuition cost.
Participation is open to people who live or work in Faulkner County and are at least 25 years old.
The balance of the tuition is $600 and may be paid by the applicant or by the applicant’s employer. A limited number of full or partial scholarships are available.
"In the past, many companies have been heavily involved in sponsoring their employees to go through the Institute. We love to see that continue," Heintzen said.
Deadline for the applications is Wednesday by close of business and delivered to the Chamber of Commerce.
Members will be chosen in September and orientation will be in November.
Classes will begin in January 2012 with a retreat.
