The United States Navy held its Annapolis Area Chief Petty Officer Pinning Ceremony on Sept. 16. Chief Information Systems Technician (Surface Warfare) Larry Allen Brewer, assigned to the Defense Information Systems Agency, Joint Spectrum Center, Annapolis, Md., was one of the Petty Officers pinned during the ceremony.
Brewer is a native of Conway and graduated from Conway High School in 1992. He was active in 4-H and FFA. He enlisted in the Navy in 1997 after attending the University of Arkansas. After completing recruit training, he attended Radioman "A" school at Great Lakes, III. Prior to reporting to DISA, he was assigned to USS Normandy (CG 60) out of Norfolk, Va.
He is the son of Larry J. and Marguerite Brewer of Conway and the grandson of the late Ben and Opal Brewer and the late Carl and Florence Grummer.
Private First Class (PFC) Blaiq Charles of Conway recently enlisted into the Arkansas Army National Guard and has earned education benefits valued at $49,844. He will attend Basic Training with further instruction at Ft. Rucker, Ala. Upon the completion of training, PFC Charles will serve with Foxtrot Company 2nd Battalion 211th Aviation at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock. He is the son of Joe Jackson and Niki Charles and a graduate of Episcopal Collegiate.
Private (PV2) Ashley Coleman recently enlisted into the Arkansas Army Guard and has earned education benefits valued at $49,844. She will attend Basic Training followed by Advanced Individual Training. Upon returning to Arkansas, PV2 Coleman will serve with Headquarters Company 39th Brigade Troops Battalion in Conway. She is the daughter of Andrea Coleman and granddaughter of Sheila Colemand of Lake Village.
