LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Forestry Commission (AFC) will honor statewide firefighters at the upcoming annual Rural Fire Show from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
The AFC Rural Fire Program will host equipment displays and grant information, live demonstrations, vendors and booth offerings, as well as door prizes and two grand prize giveaways. Fire departments should pre-register for the event by calling the Greenbrier Rural Fire office at 501-679-3171 or by completing forms available on the AFC Facebook Page.
Near 1,000 have attended on this weekend for more than 10 years now to enjoy the camaraderie so unique to the fire service. Qualifying fire departments may register their crews once for a chance to win either of this year’s grand prizes which are: A 1973 AM General Brush Truck, which is a 6-by-6 and includes a 500 gallon tank with foam, and a 750 GPM Waterous Pump; and a new Homelite Vent Saw, Model XL-98D. Attendees must be present to win any of the giveaway items.
"Volunteer firefighters make sacrifices in order to serve and protect our state from wildfires and emergencies. This event is our small way of thanking them for their commitment to Arkansas communities. We look forward to a good time shared by all," said John Blackburn, AFC Rural Fire Administrator.
New equipment will also be on display during the day; please contact the Rural Fire office if you would like to include your department’s equipment among sale items. Visit the AFC FaceBook page for registration forms, photos of grand prize offerings, or directions to the Greenbrier location (which is just North of Conway by 12 miles at #20 Industrial Blvd, Greenbrier, AR 72058).
