Shoplifting, Walmart, 1155 Skyline Drive.
Officers were called to the store by a loss prevention employee who stated that she had been watching three women attempting to conceal merchandise in their purses for the past hour. The employee stated that the store’s policy is to apprehend the suspects while they are trying to leave the store, but she recognized one of the women and knew she would try to fight with employees. The officers stated that they would come inside the store to speak with the women in an attempt to avoid any potential altercations. When they approached the women, they identified themselves and told the women that employees had been watching them conceal items in their purses. The women asked if they could just pay for the items and not get into trouble. The women were escorted to a holding room where they began pouring items out of their purses, totalling about $400. The women told the officers that they had taken the items "to see if they could get away with it." The officers noted that they told the victims, that "not only had they been watched for the past hour shoplifting, but they were now being taken to jail for theft of property." The women were handcuffed and escorted to the patrol unit to be transported to the Faulkner County Detention Center for processing.
