Randy Johnson, formerly of Faulkner County, and Mrs. Johnson will return to the United States tomorrow from a whirlwind trip to Paris, France, awarded to Johnson in a contest conducted by the Kelvinator Co.

Johnson formerly lived in Conway. He is a brother of Mrs. Tean Browning of Mount Vernon.

The Johnson couple boarded a charter flight last Thursday in Amarillo, Texas, and flew to Los Angeles, Calif., and then to Paris.

Johnson operates one of the biggest hardware businesses in Texas. His store is at Muleshoe.

Kim Hughes, bride-elect of Richard McClain Jr., was honored recently at a rice bag party at the home of Mrs. Pat Bruich of Conway.

The serving table was centered with an arrangement of red carnations.

Guests were served various finger foods and soft drinks and spent the evening making satin rose rice bags.

The couple will exchange wedding vows at 4 p.m. Saturday at Westark Church of Christ in Fort Smith.

More than 40 dogs of all sizes, ages and breeds, along with their proud owners, participated in a sidewalk parade during Saturday’s Downtown Dog Daze in the Railroad Market District. After the parade on Oak and Front streets, the dogs competed for prizes from local downtown merchants for King/Queen, Best Dressed, etc. The King was Dante owned by Crystal Ames. The Queen was Roxy owned by Elizabeth Arnett. The Overall Dog Days Champion was a tie between Liberty owned by Ann Thompson and Lincoln, owned by Rebba Thompson. Both dogs were proudly displaying an American Flag cape.
