SEARCY — Conway’s boys hit 20 of 31 two-point shots, jumped to a 22-6 first-quarter lead and romped past Searcy, 66-45, Tuesday night.

Tim Boyd had 15 points for the Wampus Cats (2-0), while Garan Davis added 10 points, six assists and five steals. Everett Reed had 12 points and five rebounds. Xavier Clardy added eight points and six regbound. Brannon Sargent had eight points and Kevin Guiden seven.

The Cats were 27-of-52 overall from the field.


The finals are set for the St. Joseph Hoops Classic, as semifinal action concluded Wednesday night.

The girls finals will feature two Faulkner County teams, with St. Joseph and Vilonia earning wins Wednesday.

St. Joseph defeated Clinton 52-28. Heather Moix led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points.

Vilonia edged Pottsville 42-38. Alaina Riley paced the Lady Eagles with 14 points.

In boys play, Brinkley defeated host St. Joseph 57-43. Andrew Beck and Cole Schichtl scored 15 points each to lead the Bulldogs.

Vilonia will meet Brinkley in the championship game Saturday night, as the Eagles defeated Mayflower 65-48. Trevor Martin led Vilonia with 29 points and eight rebounds. Cameron Wilkins had 12 points and six rebounds, while Nick Schnebelen added 10 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Dane Richardson scored 12 points to lead Mayflower.


Conway Blue defeated Vilonia in overtime 47-42 in ninth-grade girls basketball Tuesday night.

Alexis Tolefree had 13 points, four steals, three rebounds and a block for the Blue. Heather Lumley had 10 points and three rebounds. Micaela Norment had eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Deanna Ester and Reagan Schafer each had seven points. Schafer had seven rebounds while Ester also had four rebounds and three steals. Abreanna Ester had two points. Andrea Acklin had two rebounds and a steal. Sydney Clemente and Gee Bunch played well on the defensive end for us tonight. 

"The girls played hard and didn’t give up," coach Shannon Thomey said.

In the boys game, Vilonia won 50-38, improving their record to 4-2 on the season.

Hayden Weaver with 21 points and 12 rebounds for Vilonia, Lucas NIcholson with 14 points, and Garrett Brown with 11 points and nine rebounds.


Vilonia defeated Carl Stuart Middle School 38-33 in the A game of seventh-grade play Tuesday night.

Leading scorers for Carl Stuart were Taveon Davis and Elijah Scranton each had eight points. Jalen Graham, Junior Williams and McCall Dail had four each. Darian Johnson, Travis O’Bannon and Parker Teague each had two points. Taj Speight contributed defensively.

Carl Stuart won the B game 20-3. Leading scorers for Carl Stuart were Tyrell Jordan and Avery McCray with five. Wade Gordon with four. Darrian Johnson, three, and  Marquese Pleasant, one each.


The Carl Stuart seventh-grade girls A team defeated Russellville West 34-10 Wednesday night. Maggie Evans and Savannah Lowe led with nine points each.

Bianca Dugger added eight points and three steals. Annie Lee Drennan had six points and four rebounds. Jailene Tufu added one point.

In the B game, Russellville West won 10-7. Whitney Hill, Kelly Carbage,and Katie Dather all had two points each for CSMS.
