Mrs. Jennie Shaw and Miss Evie Shaw entertained a group of little folks Friday evening with prettily planned George Washington dinner party in honor of their granddaughter and niece, Virginia Shaw. The table was decorated in patriotic colors and flags and the place cards were miniature cherry trees with a hatchet. A dainty menu was served and covers were placed for Octavia Lee Donnell, Mary Virginia Robins, Patsy Ann Camp, Mozelle Mitchell, Mary Jane Holt, Dorothy Ann Hamilton, Kahterine Lee Flanagin, Virginia and George Shaw Jr. Games were played during the evening.

Jean Ann Fielder, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. H. Fielder, and a member of the Guy Community 4-H Club has been selected as one of 24 delegates to attend the 1962 annual state 4-H Club, conference.

She will attend the conference in Little Rock beginning at noon, Friday, March 2. Her expenses will be paid by the J. A. Folger Coffee Co., sponsor of this activity.

There is a slight chance snow may be on the ground tomorrow when the University of Central Arkansas is due to open its baseball season. 

Weather permitting, the Bears will play a double-header with Northark Community College. The games will begin at 1 p.m. at the UCA diamond.

Betsy Makara, bride-elect of James Gooch, was entertained at a bridal shower Feb. 9 at the home of the bride-elect’s mother, Delores Makara of Conway. Co-hostesses were Jessica Cole, Shannon Eden and Danielle Freyaldenhoven, all of Conway.

Guests were served a vegetable tray, cheese dip and mints. The cake was a Barbie doll wedding cake decorated with purple flowers.

The couple are to be married at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Old Gin Special Events Center; a reception will follow.
