Mrs. E.E. Fulks delightfully entertained a group of her neighbors with a sewing party Friday afternoon at her home on Davis Street. Individual cherry pies topped with whipped cream with coffee were served at the close of the afternoon.

Sophia Loren has been nominated for the Academy Awards actress of the year award for her role in a movie that is now playing at the Conway Theater.

Miss Loren’s nomination was announced yesterday.

The movie, “Two Women,” opened yesterday and will play tonight and tomorrow night.

Kim Renee Hall of Conway was recently selected as the Conway Business and Professional Women’s “Young Career Woman” for 1987.
Miss Hall is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy K. Hall of Mayflower. She is assistant director of admissions at the University of Central Arkansas.

Miss Hall is a graduate of West Memphis Senior High School in West Memphis and earned a bachelor of science degree in speech and theater arts, with an emphasis on mass communications, from UCA.
Miss Hall we represent the Conway organization at the state B&PW’s Young Career Woman must fit certain criteria. They must be active in other community organizations, must be between the ages of 21 and 30 and must have been employed in their professions for at least one year.

Emily Smith of Greenbrier, a senior at Greenbrier High School, has accepted an Academic Distinction Scholarship to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in the fall.

A daughter of Stephen and Vicki Smith of Greenbrier, she plans to major in history education.

The scholarship is for full tuition as determined by the student’s ACT score or grade-point average and class rank.
