Robert "Bunny" Adcock, 53, of Conway, will be the new trustee on the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees, according to a news release from Gov. Mike Beebe's office Wedensday.

Adcock — a long-time UCA advocate — replaces Scott Roussel who resigned under pressure earlier this month. Adcock's history with the university includes helping the institution receive university status in the early 1970s and coming in as interim vice president for financial services in 2008, when UCA was about $8 million in debt.

Adcock said Wednesday afternoon he has a softspot for UCA and wants to be part of its future.

"The university has a very, very bright future, and I want to play a part in that," Adcock said.

In a news release, UCA President Tom Courtway said the university appreciates Beebe's decision to appoint Adcock.

"Each time Mr. Adcock has been asked to serve UCA he has performed exceptional service," Courtway said. "He has served this university in many capacities over the years, including being the golf coach and serving two times on an interim basis, the most recent being Vice President for Finance in 2008-2009. He is currently on the board of the University of Central Arkansas Foundation, Inc."
