The Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas is still accepting registration for its summer program.

The program will be held June 11 through July 13 in the Snow Fine Arts Center on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey.

Directed by Ruthann Curry Browne with assistance by UCA Theatre majors, the Youth Theatre provides quality, creative, theatrical experiences to children in grades 3-12 and is supported by UCA Theatre and the UCA Theatre Foundation.

The Youth Theatre has two age groups.

The Junior group consists of students going into grades 3-6 with the Senior group for students going into grades 7-12. The Junior group will meet Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon; the Senior group will meet Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Parents of students entering the 7th grade may elect to have their child particpate in the junior group, if desired. Each group will perform its own production on July 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. in the Bridges/Larson Theatre of the Snow Fine Arts Center.

All participants will be cast in a play regardless of experience. All students are encouraged to participate even if acting is not their primary interest. Students may work backstage in a number of capacities including stage managing, light board operators, props, or other technical areas.

Because both groups will immediately audition and begin rehearsals, only those students who can attend all rehearsals and performances are encouraged to register. The plays will be tailored to the talents of the cast and are sure to be challenging to the performers and entertaining for the audience as well.

Registration is now under way. Fees are $275 per student if paid on or before June 8. Fees for students registering between June 9 and June 11 are $300. Due to the nature of the rehearsal process, students may not participate after June 11.
