A Conway man was arrested on charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and fleeing following an incident on Saturday outside of New China Restaurant that ended at a home on Sprucewood Street.

Police were dispatched to a residence on Sprucewood after they were contacted by three people who said they were locked in bathroom at the home.

Coddie Avington, 28, was one of two men police discovered going through items in a living room at the residence. Both men were dressed in black pants, hoodies and gloves and were wearing bandanas over their faces.

The men ran from the home after noticing police at the scene. After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended Avington.

Police say the other suspect is still on the loose.

The people inside of the home told officers that two of them were leaving New China Restaurant around 11 p.m. when they were approached by the suspects, robbed of a bank deposit bag and personal items, then forced at gunpoint to take the suspects to their home.

The victims told officers when they arrived at home the men demanded money, then locked all three people in the residence in a bathroom as they pilfered through the house.
