An unknown burglar or burglars made off with a large sum of cash early Friday morning after breaking in to Starstruck Video on Oak Street and stealing a safe from the store’s office.
Officers were patrolling the area around 3:19 a.m. when they noticed the business’s front window was “broken and smashed in.”
Police entered the broken window and cleared the building.
Two doors leading to the office had been breached, having the appearance of being kicked in. Police also discovered blood on various surfaces in the building and items that had been misplaced or moved around.
After searching the store, officers said it appeared the office had been the targeted area. The owner of the store told police a safe had been stolen from the office. The owner said the safe contained store records and $2,100 in cash. The owner did not have the make, model or serial number of the safe.
Physical evidence was collected by CID at the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
Damage to the building was estimated at $2,600.
