Neighborhoods across the nation will participate in the 29th annual National Night Out crime prevention event in August.
Conway Police Department is encouraging Conway residents to join in the event, designed to generate support for local anticrime efforts and strengthen community and police partnerships.
National Night Out will involve over 15,000 communities from 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
The Special Operations Division of the Conway Police Department is inviting all Conway residents to attend a block party at 6 p.m. on August 7 at CPD’s Pine Street substation.
Kroger, Target and CenterPoint Energy are sponsoring the event and will provide and prepare hotdogs, chips and drinks for attendees.
The Conway Fire Department is providing sprinkler fun and the CPD’s Explorers will provide a dunking booth.
Officers will also be on-scene recruiting, sharing crime prevention tips and attempting to develop a partnership with the community.
Sgt. John Zanin, project coordinator said he encourages anyone not attending the Pine Street event to organize block parties within their neighborhoods.
"From 6-10 p.m., turn the outside lights on, get outside, cook out and just spend the evening getting to know your neighbors," Zanin said.
