Police were called to Starbucks on Oak Street just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday after callers reported seeing a naked man outside.
According to reports, officers made contact with the man and a woman at the coffee shop. Both of the subjects were clothed.
The man said he was “making love to his wife” in their motel room at the Economy Inn when he noticed a shadow in the room with them. He said it was then that he fled the room with no clothes on.
The man told officers that he smoked marijuana and “ice” on Tuesday and believed he had “gotten a bad batch.”
The woman told police that she was sober and would be willing to take care of the man and keep him out of further trouble.
The officer allowed the pair to return to their hotel room. The man soon exited the room, asking police to search the room “for people.” After looking in the room, police told the man that there were no people in the room. The man then told officers he could not stay at the hotel and “needed to be taken to jail.”
When asked if a hospital would be more appropriate, the man said he did not want to go to a hospital, and that he “needed to be in a secure environment.”
Because the man had admitted to being under the influence of crystal meth and refused to stay inside of the hotel room, the man was placed into custody for public intoxication and was transported to jail, where he was held pending a $225 cash or professional bond.
