In a brief meeting, the Faulkner County Quorum Court approved an ordinance which would establish an orderly system for utility requirements and plat mapping.
The ordinance would require and new residences or businesses to be assigned by the Faulkner County 9-1-1 office before being allowed to receive utility services. Also, the ordinance requires the circuit clerk to wait for approval from the 9-1-1 office before accepting any plat map from individuals or businesses.
"FEMA has become very strict in recent years," Faulkner County Judge Preston Scroggin said. "And we are just trying to keep up and make everything simpler. We do not want to cause any problems for houses in the flood plain."
In addition, the court approved the appropriation of funds within county offices, and they tabled a proposed ordinance involving the purchase of several pieces of property from Justice of the Peace Charles Prince. The court agreed to table the proposal until the proper appraisals are available for the property.
