The Conway High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held its semi-annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, Oct. 5, and recruited more than 100 people to give blood.

One pint of blood may save the lives of four people. During this fall’s drive, 91 people attempted to give blood and 78 successfully gave, according to a news release.

The American Red Cross needs to collect at least 400 units of blood each day to meet the needs of hospital patients in Arkansas, Southwest Missouri and the mid-South, according to a news release from the school. About 38 percent of the population is eligible to donate blood. Of those, only a small percentage actually give blood.

The chapter will host another blood drive in the spring.
