Faulkner County Quorum Court Justice of the Peace Charles Prince resigned from his position with the court Friday due to a family illness.

"I wanted to thank the constituents and others on the quorum court," he said. "It has been an honor to serve."

County Judge Allen Dodson said the rest of the court will recognize the vacancy left by Prince at their next meeting in the form of a resolution. The county will then have 10 calendar days to file the resolution with the governor’s office. At that point, the governor will be responsible for appointing someone to fill the vacancy.

"I appreciate his service. I think he’s done a wonderful job representing his constituents," Dodson said. "We certainly will miss his leadership as a justice of the peace. We understand and respect his reason for resigning."

Prince represented District 5 on the court. He also served on the court’s personnel committee and courts and public safety committee.
