Among reports recently released by the Conway Police Department:
• Vehicle break-ins at the 300 block of Exchange Ave. At some point late Saturday night or early Monday morning a thief or thieves broke into two vehicles and stole purses from them. A party at the National Guard Armory was going on at the time, and about 500 cars were parked in the area.
• Shoplifting at 1155 Skyline Drive (Walmart). Three teenage college athletes from Texas in town for a competition were caught Friday night trying to steal stereo speakers from Walmart. Two were stopped at the store and a third was tracked to his hotel room nearby. The arresting officer called their coach and arrested them on suspicion of shoplifting.
• Criminal mischief at the 500 block of South Donaghey Avenue. At some point late Sunday night a vandal poured blue paint on a woman’s car.
• Criminal mischief at the 400 block of Janan Court. At some point late Sunday night or early Monday morning a vandal used a cinder block to smash up a mailbox. Nothing else was out of order, and the report sums it up as "a random act of mischief."
