Good news for Conway and Arkansas is expected to come from Governor Mike Beebe’s office at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Sources who wished to remain anonymous confirmed the planned announcement has to do with jobs at Conway’s Hewlett-Packard offices, where in October the company was just wrapping up 500 planned layoffs that were announced in July of this year, part of the company’s plan in 2012 to cut 9,000 positions in America in an effort to stabilize declining revenues.

Customer support specialists in contact centers like the one in Conway were expected to be part of the wide scale restructuring.

The Hewlett-Packard call center, which would employ more than 1,000 typically young and technically educated workers, was sought after by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce and Conway Development Corporation in 2008.

The Chamber delivered a $29 million building in the CDC-owned and developed Meadows Office and Technology Park on top of the State’s $10 million Governor’s Quick Action Closing fund.

Conway also dedicated $5 million in preparing the site and improving roads to and around the technology park.

Job openings dated for Monday found on Hewlett-Packard’s website include positions for software developers, customer engagement management advisors, inside sales managers, sales development representatives, enterprise group inside sales managers, software education, account management, and more.

The number of jobs and salary ranges have not been announced, and Beebe’s spokesperson did not return a message inquiring about the announcement by press time late Tuesday.

A salary review website that contains typical salaries for Hewlett-Packard positions,, shows some sales representative salaries averaging $39,282 or about $16.79 per hour.

Pre-sales technical consultants, one of the positions listed, has a salary that ranges from $64,000 to $173,000, with an average salary of $120,378.

Inside sales managers have an average salary of $53,500, according to the website.
