Authorities are searching for a Faulkner County man after a shooting victim was dropped off at a church in Guy on Friday night.

The victim was dropped off at Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Pinnacle Springs Road between Guy and Highway 65, Sheriff Tim Ryals told the Log Cabin Democrat.

Chief Deputy Matt Rice said the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Pinnacle Springs Road on an abandoned vehicle report regarding a Hyundai Santa Fe that was left in the middle of the road.

"The windshield was broken and there was blood in the car and on the side of the car," he told the Log Cabin.

He said there was a trail of blood leading off into the nearby woods.

Ryals said the suspect, who at this point is unknown, ran off into the woods.

"[The] suspect traveled approximately two miles [from the church] before running out of gas and witnesses saw the suspect abandon a reported stolen vehicle … in the middle of the road and run into the woods," he said.

The vehicle is reported stolen out of Little Rock.

Ryals said, "a search ensued with deputies and a Conway Police Department K-9 unit with no positive result."

Ryals also said the victim was immediately taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, where he was soon transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Rice said the victim suffered gun shot wounds to the face.

"The victim was shot in the face pretty bad," he said.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate this incident, Rice said.

The Log Cabin will continue following this story as more information becomes available.
