Greenbrier Junior High community mentors, parents, teachers, students and administrators have been working hard to develop Wonder Women and Iron Men clubs lately.
The clubs include include guest speakers, community experiences and life lessons that support growing a heart of service in each of the students.
Greenbrier Junior High’s ninth grade Wonder Women recently took a service field trip to Soul Food Cafe Mission in Conway with a goal to love and serve the many guests that depend weekly on the help of the mission for food, clothing, haircuts and daily living supplies.
Throughout the day, 38 students prepared and served hot lunches, washed and dried dishes, packed food boxes for pick-up, helped guests select and take home clothes and supplies and listened as many guests shared their stories.
"The participants worked hard without ever complaining," the school’s website stated. "In fact, there were many times you could see or hear the joy the Wonder Women felt as they were serving."
After returning to school, several from the group reflected on the trip with hearts of gratitude and a passion to do more, the website stated.
"As a school community, we look forward to watching our students continue to grow in compassion and service to others as they prepare for college and career," read the website.
