The Conway Lady Cats are set to host their Danny and Dandra Thomas Invitational, starting Thursday at Buzz Bolding Arena.

The field features six teams, five from Arkansas and one from Germantown, Tennessee.

The tournament has a double- elimination format, featuring Jacksonville, Hot Springs, Little Rock Parkview, Central Arkansas Christian, Conway and Germantown.Conway and Germantown each received first-round byes and start play Friday.

The winner of Jacksonville and Hot Springs will move on to face Conway, while the winner of Parkview and CAC will move on to face Germantown.

Also featured in this tournament is the No. 1 rated espnW’s girls high school basketball recruit, Christyn Williams of CAC.

Williams announced her signing Nov. 10 with friends walking into the CAC gymnasium wearing University of Connecticut sweatshirts and a Siberian Husky.Williams has spearheaded the Lady Mustangs’ effort to a 7-0 record to start the season, including a 71-24 win over Mayflower.

Last season, Williams averaged 26.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game, and is a two-time defending Gatorade Player of the Year in Arkansas.She is also a three-time medalist with Team USA.

Opposite Conway for a Thursday bye is Germantown, who have lost four contests, allowing an average of 63.8 points per game, while scoring just 18.8 points per game.

Jacksonville goes into Thursday matchup against Hot Springs with a 2-5 record, while the Trojans boast a 5-0 record.

Parkview enters its Thursday contest against CAC at 5-2.

One year removed from losing a big senior class, coach Ashley Nance and the Conway Lady Cats are back at it again, coming into the tournament with a 6-0 record.The Lady Cats opened the season with a dominating showing at the Lake Hamilton Classic, beating Kirby, Malvern and Lake Hamilton by 44 points, 41 points and 16 points, respectively.

They then traveled to Van Buren and picked a nine-point win before once again winning big over Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering by 65 and over Parkview by 14 in the Battle on Barrow Road.

Conway will play the winner of Jacksonville and Hot Springs Friday at 8 p.m.

Tournament play begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Buzz Bolding Arena between Jacksonville and Hot Springs.

The championship game is scheduled 5 p.m. Saturday with other placement games preceding it.
