Jennings R. Mahan

Jennings "Slater" R. Mahan, 88, of Damascus, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Conway Regional Health Systems.  

He was born Aug. 30, 1921, at Rabbit Ridge, Ark., a son of the late Darby Bruce and Alma (Latimer) Mahan.  

Slater was also preceded in death by his sister, Glenna Holland; and brothers, Hayden and Hilma Mahan.  

He was a barber most of his life, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Rabbit Ridge Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife of 69 years, Versa (Scritchfield) Mahan; children, David Mahan of Damascus, Katherine Page of Searcy, Dennie Mahan of Damascus; his sister, Sue Nabors; his brother, Alon Mahan, both of Rabbit Ridge; grandchildren, Timothy Allen Mahan of Damascus, Joe Belote (Kari) of Ada, Mich., Trey Page of Los Angeles, Rigel (Lana) Page of Searcy, Darbi (Paul) Blencow of Conway; great-grandchildren, Nicole Fairchild, Lane and Hayden Page, Kyle and Ellary Belote.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.  

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.  

Burial will follow in Whipple Cemetery.
