Donald Edward Leavens
Donald Edward Leavens, 83, of North Little Rock passed away Dec. 28, 2010, at the Salem Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on May 23, 1927, in North Adams, Mass., to the late Thomas Leavens and Mary K. Phillips Leavens.
He was an Air Force Veteran in World War II. His interests were photography, aerial photography, flying and woodworking.
Mr. Leavens worked several years at the Gevaert film company, in Williamstown, Mass., until its closing. He retired after 32 years as Superintendent of Quality Assurance, with Pirelli Cable Corp. Later after his retirement, he worked as a consultant for the corporation.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary K. Leavens and Helen Murphy; four brothers, Francis, Frederick, Nelson and Willard Leavens.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Lauren Leavens and Holly Susan Cossey (Clyde); a granddaughter, Rachel Renee Macomber (Tim); and three great-grandchildren, Emma Katherine Cook, Linley Elise Cook and Anna Grace Macomber. All are from Conway and Vilonia.
He leaves his sister, Betty Evans and husband, William, of Big Bear, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Leavens of Williamstown, Mass.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Anne Leavens of Bennington, Vt. Also many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife, June Haley Leavens of Conway.
The family would like to thank Salem Place Nursing Home and Hospice for their loving care and concern for our father as his health declined.
Cremation arrangements are by Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home in Conway.
Interment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Williamstown, Mass.
