LITTLE ROCK — Technology firm nGage Labs will open an analytics center in Little Rock’s River Market district and hire at least 35 people at an average salary of more than $100,000, the company announced Friday.
Hiring will begin immediately, the company’s CEO, Rod Ford, said in a news conference at the state Capitol.
Ford said nGage Labs develops innovative ways for businesses to engage with customers though digital devices. The company’s clients include retailers, restaurants, colleges and sports venues, he said.
As an example of the services the company provides, Ford said it has developed a mobile phone application that allows a national retailer to track the store visits and shopping preferences of any customer who has the app. When the customer comes into a store, the app provides the person with information on special deals available that match his or her interests.
"We’ve built a set of tools that let you have the Amazon-like shopping experience while in the retail store," he said. "You can look at things like ratings and reviews, what this particular items costs somewhere else, details of the item, other items available in the product assortment, how many points you have on your loyalty program. And then when you go to pay, there is included in this application a mobile payment device."
Gov. Mike Beebe said the company will create the type of high-paying, knowledge-based jobs that Arkansas wants to see continue coming into the state.
As an incentive, the state provided the company with $1.05 million from the Governor’s Quick-Action Closing Fund to be used for infrastructure, equipment, training and recruitment.
nGage Labs was founded in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 2009 and maintains an office there with about 40 employees. It has experienced more than 40 percent growth each quarter, according to a news release from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.
