High school football season officially kicks off Monday in Conway, just liked it did 13 years ago.

Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week begins with a doubleheader on the purple-and-gray turf at UCA on Monday. State title contenders Shiloh Christian and Warren meet immediately after Arkansas Baptist battles Clinton at 5:30 p.m. The four teams combined to win 32 games in 2011.

Shiloh Christian moves up to Class 5A this fall after winning four state titles over the past six seasons. Warren opens the season ranked No. 2 in Class 4A. Warren has never beaten Shiloh.

The Kickoff event started in 2000 at UCA when Coach Gus Malzahn's Shiloh Christian Saints beat Osceola 47-46 and Cabot beat Conway 35-34. Both Shiloh and Cabot went on to play for state titles that season.

In the event's 12-year history, 17 teams started runs to the state finals during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week.

Tickets are $7 at the gate and good for both games Monday night.
