LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — About 10,000 electric customers in north Arkansas are without electricity as a result of the winter storm.

Among the hardest hit areas are Independence and Stone counties. Entergy Arkansas reports about 3,600 customers in the dark in the Batesville area and about 1,100 in Stone County.

Entergy Arkansas, the state's largest electric utility, has almost 7,000 customers without lights, and many of the outages are scattered.

First Electric Cooperative was down to about 600 customers out after having about 2,000 in the dark for a time. North Arkansas Electric Cooperative also had about 2,000 customers out, with 1,000 of them in Izard County.

The National Weather Service says Batesville got the most ice at a half-inch, and numerous spots in north Arkansas got a quarter-inch coating.
