Under scorching temperatures, the competition shapes up to be heated in all divisions Tuesday in the final rounds of Conway Country Club’s Designated Junior tournament.
No golfer distanced himself from the field after the first day Monday as temperatures surpassed 110 degrees by the afternoon.
Austin M. Smith took the overall boys lead with a 4-over 74. Jay Trusty and Conway’s Parker Rice, both 75, are close behind. Smith and Rice are playing in the 16-17 division. Trusty leads the 14-15 division, followed by Cameron McRae and Caleb Kubacak at 78.
Tanner Bezet and Chase Netherton fired 78s in the 16-17 division.
Alex Smith leads the boys 12-13 division at 78, followed by Conway’s Whit Parker at 79.
The girls have one division and Taylor Loeb and Peyton Weaver enter the final day as co-leaders at 84. Lauren Johnson and Stephanie Lake are tied for third at 85. Lauren Chappell of Conway came in at 88.
The final round of the tournament begins Tuesday morning.
