Because of Thursday night’s production deadlines, stories concerning the Beebe at Greenbrier and Vilonia at Sylvan Hills football games will appear in the "Faulkner County Recap" in Saturday’s print edition.

Both of those high school season-openers were moved up a day at the last minute because of potential weather associated with Tropical Storm Isaac.

Stories were posted Thursday night

Faulkner County high school games Friday night include:

Conway at Bryant, 7 p.m.

Dumas at Mayflower, 7 p.m.

Episcopal Collegiate at Conway Christian, 7 p.m.

The University of Central Arkansas Alumni Association and Athletic Department tailgate Saturday will be in the center of The Grove at Ole Miss, which has one of the top tailgate areas in the country.

The UCA tailgate will be near the Farley sidewalk, which begins at the Farley building and runs completely through the Grove crossing the Walk of Champions sidewalk. UCA fans should go to where the two sidewalks intersect, and go north along the Farley sidewalk.  They should look for a big white cathedral tent and purple flag/decor.

The Grove is a 10 acre plot of land with nothing but trees and 2 main sidewalks.

The tailgate will be set-up by noon Saturday. The Bears will open the season against Ole Miss at 6:06 p.m.

The Mustang Classic four-person scramble golf tournament will be Monday, Sept. 17 at The Greens at Nutters Chapel.

The tourney, a major fundraiser for Central Baptist College athletics, will have shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Entry fee is $100 per golfer/$400 per team and includes greens fees, golf cart, refreshments, a catered lunch, and players gifts.

Smith Ford and Harwood, Ott & Fisher, CPA’s have teamed to sponsor a 2013 Ford Mustang as a hole-in-one prize and Conway’s Garry Crockett will be cooking barbeque for lunch.

The player registration deadline is September 12.

Several sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individuals starting with hole sponsorships for $250. Questions about player registration or sponsorship levels, e-mail or call Deanna Ott at 501-205-8838 at
