TULSA, Okla. — Oral Roberts handed the University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears their second Southland Conference defeat of the season, 25-21, 17-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-11, Tuesday night.

The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears dropped only their second conference match of the season, falling 3-2 to Oral Roberts on Tuesday night.

The Sugar Bears (22-3, 10-2) hit .201, led by Taylor Hammonds who hit .421 with 11 kills. Jessica Hays led the team in kills with 18. Scout Brooks was the only other Sugar Bear with double-digit kills, tallying 15. Marissa Collins had 57 assists. The Sugar Bears host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, which handed them their other SLC defeat, at 7 Thursday night in the Prince Center. They host Sam Houston State on Saturday.

SEARCY — In the district tournament, St. Joseph’s volleyball team downed Mayflower, 25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22, Tuesday night to clinch a berth in the state tournament.

Meagan Briggler had seven kills and nien aces. Moix added six kills and five aces. Rachel Briggler had 18 assists. Taylor Womack had four blocks for the Lady Bullodgs (16-10, 11-5).

"This was the game we needed to go to state, so I’m proud of the girls for stepping up and getting it done," said coach Luke Davis.

Greenbrier came from behind to defeated Huntsville, 20-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 15-11, in a recent volleyball match.

"I was very pleased with the way that the girls came back in game 3 after losing game 1 and 2," said Greenbrier coach Cindy Hartman. "The girls showed a lot of heart and desire by winning the match after being down. They never gave up and kept on working to excel.

MacKenzie Batterton had 11 kills and eight blocks. MacKenzie Burrow was 19 of 21 on serves with nine kills and 33 digs. Marissa Hollenbaugh was perfect on 30 serves and added seven kills. Other stat leaders were MacKenzie Neumeier, Lexie Livingston, Marlo Stacy and Payton Starkey.

Huntsville won the JV match, 19-25, 26=24, 15-9.

For Greenbrier, Heather Wilcox was 13 of 14 on serves with two aces and three kills. Other stat leaders were Katie Jones, Hayley Heacox, Savannah Baker, Hayleigh Hillard and Sarah Langston.
