Bears return home for HBU series

The University of Central Arkansas Bears return home this weekend after four consecutive road games.

UCA (9-10, 3-3) will host the Houston Baptist Huskies (10-11, 2-1) in Southland Conference play beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, an early series start because of Easter. Game times are 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Bears, who swept Stephen F. Austin in their opening SLC series two weeks ago, have lost four straight games, all on the road. Little Rock beat UCA 6-5 in the first game of the Rock N Roar Rivaly last Wednesday in Little Rock. Lamar then swept UCA in a three-game league series last weekend in Beaumont, winning 19-5, 7-6 and 9-2.

HBU is the defending SLC Tournament champion after beating UCA twice in the tournament and then knocking off Sam Houston State 8-0 in the championship game.

UCA dance team fundraiser

The Univesity of Central Arkansas dance team will be waiting tables at U.S. Pizza on Thursday to raise funds for a trip to nationals.

The fundraiser will be from 5-10 p.m. A portion of all sales that evening will go to the team if receipts are placed in a specially marked bucket.
