Central Baptist College won two our of three games from Lyon College to take the American Midwest Conference series.

The Mustangs (29-6, 7-5) won Friday’s game, 8-4, then split Saturday’s doubleheader, losing the first game, 11-2, and winning the second, 8-3.

Seth McLemore knocked in four runs in Friday’s victory. Brian Moreno struck out 11 and gave up four hits in six shutout innings.

In the game two victory Saturday, Jalin Lawson had three hits, singling in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Kale Fultz allowed no earned runs and struck out two in three innings. Monterio May got the win for Mustangs. He allowed three runs over five innings, striking out six, walking none and gave up six hits.

The Mustangs broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Josh Buczek finished 3 for 5. Seth McLemore was 2-5, Deonta Howard 3 for 4 and Austin Kuchinski three for four.


On a Midwest swing over the weekend, Central Baptist College’s softball team swept one doubleheader and was swept in another.

Against St. Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, the Lady Mustangs won, 10-0 and 12-0.

Joella Bayles was the winning pitcher in the opener and held the Eutectics to four hits, no runs, and struck out two. Batting leader were Lauren Sweeten 1 for 2 two RBI, two runs; Whitney Wade 1 for 4 three RBI, two runs, one home run; and Raquel Westerman , 1 for 2, two RBI.

The second game was also a five inning contest as CBC scored nine runs in the fifth. Cali Langford struck out three and recorded the win as St. Louis College of Pharmacy was held hitless. Joella Bayles went 3 for 4, two RBI, two RBI, two runs and a home run. Whitney Wade, Raquel Westerman and Cali Lankford all had two RBI.

At Belleville, Ill., Lindenwood-Belleville took a doubleheader, 7-1, 5-3.

In the first game, the Lady Lynx (21-10, 13-3 AMC) held CBC scoreless until a single run in the sixth when Sweeten doubled and scored on error.

In game two, a Raquel Westerman homer got CBC on the board in the first inning. The Lady Lynx answered and added two more in the second before the Lady Mustangs tied it in the third on a Lauren Sweeten home run.

In the second game, Beth Jones was 2 for 3, Bayles, 2 for 3, Sweeten and Raquel Westerman went 1-3 . Westerman had a home run.


The Hendrix College men’s lacrosse team defeated Oglethorpe University, 16-3, at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors (6-7, 2-2) and Stormy Petrels (0-12, 0-4) were tied after the first five minutes, before Hendrix scored three goals in a 41-second span to take a 4-1 lead to take command. Hendrix outshot the OU 69-16 overall and 53-10 on goal. Senior Travis Rabun recorded two goals and an assist. His assist tied Cameron Millstone’s school record of 59 in a career.
