Thursday was a big night for Mount Vernon-Enola basketball teams as both the Warhawks and Lady Warhawks advanced to the Class A semifinals at Morrilton.
Kyndal Hardy's basket with 3.1 seconds in overtime gave the Lady Warhawks (33-9) at 48-47 victory in overtime.
Gracie Raby, who scored 26 points, hit four straight free throws in overtime to set up Hardy's game winner. Raby also scored seven straight points, including two free throws with 25.5 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 42.
The Warhawks (30-8) had a much easier time, defeating Woodlawn, 81-57.
The MV-Enola boys raced t a 28-9 lead after one quarter.
Jasper Lasley scored 15 points for MV-Enola. Logan Adcock and Jacob Moix had 14. Kanyin Martin added 12.
The Lady Warhawks play their semifinal game at noon Saturday. The boys semifinal will follow.
CBC men's basketball
Central Baptist College's men (21-7) advanced to the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament with an 89-69 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville at Reddin Fieldhouse.
“I didn’t really like how we played tonight,” said head coach Chris Wright. “We can’t turn the ball over 22 times and our bigs have to play much, much better.”
Da'Jon Streeter finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double as a Mustang. Ashford Golden had 24 points and 10 rebounds Sammie Elem (13) and Victor Dukes (11) both finished in double digits in scoring
The Central Baptist College baseball team swept a doubleheader from Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, 9-4 and 11-0, to even its record at 8-8.
Earlier, the Mustangs were swept by Harris-Stowe, 3-2 and 5-1, to lose the American Midwest Conference series, two games to one.
CBC's softball team won two gamess in the Doubletree Tournament at Springfield, Mo.
The Mustangs downed Midland 7-5, and Evangel, 4-3.
