The city of Conway hosted the baseball All-Star State Championships on June 22 and 23, which included tournaments for many different age groups from all over the state.

One notable performance was that of Greenbrier, who won the tournament for 8-year-old age group, which included 29 other all-star teams.

The team beat Fayetteville 11-3 and Lake Hamilton 12-4 in pool play June 22.

Greenbrier thrashed Woodlawn in the first round of the tournament, winning 21-6. Their dominance carried over into the second round as they defeated Warren 16-1. Van Buren would prove to be no match for Greenbrier, who lost 16-1 to Greenbrier in the third round.

Greenbrier then defeated WCCL from Farmington 21-9 in the semifinals.

This set up a championship match between Greenbrier and Monticello. Monticello fared much better against Greenbrier than previous teams, but would come up just short, with Greenbrier edging them out 9-8.

Greenbrier was coached by Jon Daniel, Drew Foster, Coty Linville and JJ Palmer.

In the 15-year-old age group, Sheridan walked away with the championship after defeated 6-2 in the championship round.

The Warren Jacks won the championship in the 14-year-old age group, defeating Maumelle 8-4 in the championship game.

In the 12-year-old age group, Monticello came out on top, shutting out Lake Hamilton 8-0 in the championship game.

Monticello collected another championship in the 11-year-old age group, defeating Fayetteville 11-4.
