University of Central Arkansas director of athletics Brad Teague has elevated Matt Whiting to associate athletic director for external relations as part of a newly formed UCA Athletics Leadership Team.
Whiting, who has served as assistant athletic director for the past two years, will join Teague, Darrell Walsh (senior associate AD), Steve East (associate AD/media relations) and Natalie Shock (associate AD/SWA) on the new athletics leadership team.
"Matt has proven himself in his two short years here to have great leadership qualities,” Teague said. "His promotion and additional supervisory role will continue to make our team stronger.”
Whiting will continue to oversee development, sponsorships, ticketing, and marketing, while adding the oversight of strategic communications and video marketing.
"The addition of the new leadership team will help us move our strategic goals forward in a more global way,” Teague said. "We will be intentional about each move to ensure it fits our plan and benefits our student-athletes and our donors and fans in a positive way. I am excited about how this change will impact our constituencies.”
The Central Arkansas athletics department has seen records in external revenue each of the past two years.
Private fundraising, both annual fund and major gifts, along with corporate sponsorship, have seen increases due to a strategic effort on the external side.
"Central Arkansas Athletics is poised to continue its great success on the field, in the classroom, and in outreach for the coming year and into the future,” Teague said.
