NEWPORT BEACH, California – University of Central Arkansas men's golf senior Luis Obiols bounced back from a tough opening day with a final-round score of 75, as the squad placed 10th Tuesday at the Anteater Invitational hosted by Big Canyon Country Club.

The Bears struggled as a team on the final day, firing a 307 (+19) to finish the tournament with a 917 (+54), good for 10th place.

UCA was without the defending Southland Tournament champion in senior Lewis George for the event.

Sophomore Miles Smith finished tied at 37 after firing a final round 81.

Smith birdied the opening hole, a 351-yard par 4, but could not find consistency the rest of the round.

Freshman Brett Daughdrill posted a +5 (77) Tuesday.

The finish was good enough to land him a top-30 result in his first collegiate tournament during the championship season.

Freshman Josh Turnock posted one of his best rounds as a Bear, firing a +2 (74), including an even-par 36 on the front nine.

It will be a quick turnaround for UCA as they travel to Patterson, Louisiana, next week for the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State.

Tee times for the event are still to be determined.
